Puppies

There is no doubt that all puppies are cute and cuddly. However, after coming home to your favorite pair of shoes being used as a chew toy, the cuteness factor may begin to wear off. It is time to start training your puppy. Not only do you not want your items used as chew toys, but trained puppies are actually happier and healthier.

Where to begin

It is easy to pack up the pup and take him to the local pet store obedience training. After several weeks, the pup will get a certificate that he is trained. When at home, however, he seems to forget everything that you assume he learned at school. So now what?

Training at home

Now is the time to have obedience training done at home. Training the puppy on his own territory will help establish the boundaries and rules that he needs. Lessons will be tailored to you and your puppy. In just a few sessions, your puppy will begin to learn the necessary manners and skills needed for him to thrive. Basic commands such as stop, come, stay, drop it, wait, leave it, and more are taught. The pup will also begin to learn how to walk on a leash. The entire family is encouraged to join the training sessions, including children over the age of three years old.

Getting older

As the puppy continues to get older, he may need a refresher in manners. The trainers can come back to your home to refresh the pup on the basic skills to keep everyone happy. A trained puppy is actually a happy puppy. A pup needs to know what is expected of him and remember a puppy loves to be rewarded for good behavior. Click on puppy training for more ideas.
